About Me
A native North Carolinian, I love sweet tea, barbecue, and the outer banks. I’m a GenerationXer and I love all things 80’s. I’m a southern gentleman and a family man who grew up in a small church and went to public schools. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife for nearly 8 years – we have a fantastic little boy and a second on the way.
I earned a BA in International Studies from UNC Chapel Hill with a focus on Latin America and History, and a minor in American Studies. After working for 5 years post undergrad at a variety of jobs, I earned my MBA in International Business from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.
I have worked my whole adult life, starting with a three year stint at Chick-fil-A during high school that culminated in an assistant manager position. I’ve held numerous other positions in general management and human resources, and have learned from countless superiors, the good and the bad. I am currently the Vice President of CrossComm, an interactive consultancy and development firm in Durham, NC.
No stranger to manual labor, I’ve worked in unairconditioned warehouses in the heat of the summer, on assembly lines in factories, and as a cook in a couple of restaurants. I’ve also been an administrative assistant, a youth pastor, a bilingual recruiter, a teacher, and a small business owner, to name a few. I’ve worked for small businesses, educational institutions, large corporations, and non-profits. In addition, I currently serve as the Chair of the Durham Chamber Small Business Council.
Like most people, I love to travel. I have spent a summer in Mexico City and over the course of three trips, about five weeks in Spain. I’ve been to Canada, the Bahamas, and Jamaica, as well as about half of the states in the Union. I love people of all nations, cultures, and backgrounds. As an active member of King’s Park International Church, I spend every Sunday morning with people from over 48 different nations.
I love food, I love to cook, and I love to eat. I love movies and could spend hours upon hours at the theater. Photography is another passion of mine; my Nikon D80 rarely leaves my side. I’m still learning, but you can check out some of my photos here.
A student of history, economics, and politics, I’m an avid reader and follower of the news. I also like to think, analyze, and problem solve. I’m passionate about leadership and entrepreneurship, and I love to see businesses, organizations, and individuals excel. That’s why I write.
